More hokey than hypnotic, more monotonous than monstrous, more elephantitus than elephantine, the quasi-Biohazard groove laid down by Project 86 on “One-Armed Man (Play On)” is pretty much the core of the song – that is, it’s the whole song, albeit the whole of the band’s major-label debut, Drawing Black Lines. Sure, it’s heavy. Sure, it’d get your head nodding if it was blasting away at a record store. Sure, vocalist Andrew Schwab’s growls could make it hurt so good if only he was right there next to you grunting in your ear about all the pain in this God-forsaken world. But, above all, “One-Armed Man” none-too-subtly displays the underlying problem with urban-core: These bands -- and more so, their fans -- throw their hands up in the air like the just don’t care, all of them rapping ‘n’ raging against a machine they can neither see nor sense. (And you thought I would say I’d have this project 86’d so it can’t play on – for shame!) Still, Project 86 – much like the slightly better P.O.D. – are gonna’ get major “props” from the non-metal press because they’re heavy and they’re Christian, as if the two could never coincide (best combo of both: Spitfire). Yawn. Go buy the new Stuck Mojo or Candiria records instead.

From what I have heard of them they are very good. It doesn't matter if they sound like Korn or P.O.D. because every band from California sounds like that now. Also they are putting out a good message with their music, which is always a plus.
