The nine-piece band Ozomatli has a solid grounding in all types of Latin music, which provides the backbone for its recombinant forays into hip-hop, jazz, and even Indian raga. The MUSICBLITZ Exclusive, the Spanish-language "Dos Cosas Ciertas" is one of the collective's more traditional numbers, a lively cumbia driven by a blazing horn section. Starting with the snaky sound of a single wooden flute, punctuated by various handheld percussion instruments -- including what sounds like a jew's harp -- the song bursts into full flower with guitars, drum kit, bass, and a chorus of voices. The common-sense refrain translates loosely as "In life, there are two sure things: death and change." You can't argue with that.

As always, Ozomatli continues to impress me with the message and life they bring into their music. Their genuine joy for life and music shows through their powerful lyrics, beautiful rhythms, exotic melodies, and infusement of different genres of music. They are true pioneers and activists. An exciting addition to their plethora of styles. Gotta love it!

Ozomatli is the band to keep track of. I have followed them since I first saw them in concert with the great Santana. Once you have heard them you WILL become addict. Their stage performance is awesome.
