"Don't worry, just get inside." The former Tribe Called Quester turned hip-hop sex symbol beckons a lovely young lady to take a spin with him in his "choice ride." It's a tricked set of wheels with "butter-soft seats," tinted windows and a booming sound system, blasting everything from Biggie to Led Zep. Time to light up a blunt and get comfy -- Q-Tip just wants baby girl (and us) to kick back and leave all troubles behind: "Got the Armor-All touch / Empty out the Dutch / No tobacco spilling on my rug, clutz / Kick off the shoes / Show off the pedicure / Shake off the blues." His offer is hard to resist as a simple guitar line effortlessly steers us over the track's easy-bumpin' humps. Loopy, swirling sound bursts underscore the song's fun-loving spirit.
But leave it to the Abstract One to put a little lyrical twist on things. See, rolling through the hood isn't the only ride he's after: "My ride is like art / We get creative in it / When we take it out and spin it / The back seat is the canvas we painting on." In other words, let's hope he brought a blanket -- we don't want that butter-soft interior to get all nasty. Sex. Drugs. and a fat-ass ride. What more could you want? Produced by Jay Dee (of buzz band, Slum Village) and Tip himself, this is a perfect, warm weather driving jam that makes you want to roll down the windows and hit the cruise control. |
