The Dandy Warhols Godless Album: Thirteen Tales From Urban Bohemia
Genres: Alternative
These swaggering Britpoppers have spent the past three years taming the fuzz pedal and honing their hooks in their very own urban bohemia: Portland, Oregon. Now they’re ready to tell the tale… |

Five and a half minutes is a long time, and the Dandy Warhols don’t seem quite sure how to fill it. Paring down the layers of feedback that decorated previous singles, the band emerges with some of its trippy beauty missing. The most disappointing revelation is Courtney Taylor’s voice: you can hear it clearly, and it’s clearly mediocre. “Godless” is saved by the lovely trumpet echoing the main (George Harrison-esque) guitar riff -- midway through the song, everything breaks down and drops behind the langorous horn solo. Yet even the inventive arrangement and a canny lyrical hook wear out their welcome a couple of minutes before the final note of grace.

Brit Pop is getting old. Brit Pop IS old. If you like Oasis, you'll like this. If you like good lime music that makes you uncontrollably sway- this is it. not bad.
