Rancid It's Quite Alright Album: Rancid
Genres: Punk
Punk-rock standard-bearers narrow their focus and barrel ahead with a tried-and-true motto: Loud fast rules. |

Buzz on the upcoming Rancid album says the band’s returning to straightforward punk-rock. If this song is any indication, the advance word is on-target. Performed at breakneck speed with one-chord power, “It’s Quite Alright” sounds like a standard slam-dance anthem at first. Interest and tension arrive with Tim Armstrong’s phrasing and delivery; his voice sails with calm syncopation over the top of the band’s furious playing. Only at the song’s end -- 85 seconds later -- does he leap into the fray and shout along with the music. Cool.
