The Meters' "Hey Pocky Way" is one of those ubiquitous summertime concert songs -- it's been covered by everyone from the Grateful Dead to Irma Thomas. String Cheese Incident specializes in this kind of feel-good music, and they really shine on this version, recorded during their Winter Carnival '99 tour and included on the album which serves as its chronicle. You can't help but get caught up in the positive vibes here -- keyboardist Kyle Hollingsworth and vocalist Michael Kang make sure of that. Infusing the song with just the right combination of hip-shakin' funk and uptown groove, SCI makes sure you're havin' a good time. It all breaks loose when Kang lets himself get to it on guitar -- the man can play-- backed by Hollingsworth's N'awlin's piano and a solid bassline courtesy of Keith Moseley. You can't help but sing along with the fun harmonies at the end -- go on, get up outta that chair and boogie away whatever blahs you may be nursing. This one's "good for your body, good for your soul" indeed.

Since Phish is on a little break it sounds like STI is the band to listen to. This song is no let down if you like their other stuff. This song is like an old favorite found on any of their older stuff. Cheers for not trying to re-invent themselves and sticking with what works!
