Genres: Reggae
A potent Jamaican Blend-er of roots and reverence for reggae’s rasta king. |

Mixing an ode to a dead musical hero with a bouncy but apocalyptic take on the political world makes more sense in the realm of roots reggae than it might in other genres. Based on the roots preoccupation with Armegeddon -- and reggae’s deification of Bob Marley as a guy who could help avert it -- the two themes coexist easily in this strong live track. It benefits from crystal-clear live sound and Blender’s impassioned vocal, as well the palpable conviction of the righteous. But it also works as pure music, with a limited but appealing melody and a classic roots reggae feel that should hook the ganja monkey, as well as the committed Rasta.
