This reinterpretation of the standard “Limehouse Blues” adds few frills, except for speed. Peterson’s always been known for cramming in the notes, and it’s obvious that his style has had a marked influence on Green – so when the two of them get together, you can expect lots of long, crystalline runs, which add an attractive sheen to this rugged blues classic. In fact, Green’s learned his lessons from Peterson so well that it’s occasionally tough to tell where one man stops and the other begins. At four and a half minutes, the track is actually a bit on the short side, although by song’s end you’re left with the clear impression that both pianists have had their say.
