Along with the equally scorching “Set the Tone,” “Deadman” takes the cake for best track on the Mojo’s latest album Declaration of a Headhunter. Per usual, the Mojo crew waste no time in kicking out the jams -- guitarist Rich Ward’s chugging riffs during the verses give way to a buzzsaw bridge assault, before the STD-infectious chorus drops down like the proverbial bomb. As focused as the target of the machinegun gracing Declaration of a Headhunter’s cover, “Raise the Deadman” is four minutes of heavy-handed heaven; really, few other Mojo tracks eclipse this one’s representation of the band’s blissful brilliance.
