Pulled from producer/rapper Erick Sermon’s latest solo effort, this track won’t blow you away with brilliant wordplay or revelatory insight -- but the former EPMDer certainly knows how to craft a funky party jam! Backed by a percolating beat and a voice box chorus a lá Zapp, E Double and friends DJ Quik and Xzibit boast about fat bank accounts, musical prowess and overall hardness. The standout verse belongs to fellow producer/modern funkateer Quik: "E -- make the beat bubble/make that bass so low you shake that brick house to the ground and dig ‘em out of the rubble." While "Focus" might not raze the house, it will certainly keep it shaking. |
