A hypnotic mountain of sound, "Persona" overwhelms with an elephantine stomp. Extra points for the Ozzy-soundalike! |

Billowing a tar-thick cloud of toke-smoke, sHEAVY erect a hypnotic mountain of sound on "Persona." Though the track begins deceptively with barely audible guitar strums and Steve Hennessey's hushed vocals, it soon erupts into a sonic assault that finds Hennessey’s nasal wail out-Ozzying Mr. Osbourne himself. The rest of his bandmates proceed to travel down a long, doom-riddled tunnel by perpetually alternating between dark 'n' soft and dark 'n' loud textures. In the end, they stick to the latter, focusing on an elephantine stomp that would've worked nicely on Sabbath's Sabotage. And though the song's trajectory is as deliberate as they come, sHEAVY clearly steer this repetition away from monotony, thereby making the dynamic all the more tense and overwhelming.
