To call "43% Burnt" angular is an understatement; to call it severely scorching is an even greater understatement. Although the Dillinger Escape Plan is only a five-piece, the band sounds more like an army of nuclear scientists mainlining the most depraved remnants of hardcore, death metal, free jazz, and grindcore. Beginning with a stumbling, oft-kilter chug-riff, the track soon finds each Planner lashing out in an opposite direction, desperately fighting for air, and fatally blowtorching everyone in their way. Meanwhile, frontman Dimitri Minakakis lacerates his vocal chords -- and your psyche -- with invectives about smelling whores, breaking bottles, and knocking you off your horse. What eventually emerges is sheer sonic claustrophobia, the aural equivalent of an electrified scissorfight. But if all this sounds like utter chaos, it's really not: there's a studied overkill to the Dillinger Escape Plan, and it's the new breed of the thinking man's metal, whether you want to admit it or not. Double-fist this with Shadows Fall, and you're in for a smart-drug summer.

I know whats up with some people...i know they arent exactly metal, but these guys are awesome and put on a kick-ass live show....they are a good band and deserve better than some people are giving them....i honestly think you should take another listen...maybe its not thats its bad, maybe its that you dont understand the complexity of the music....well, whatever it is, TDEP ROCKS....gotta jam..

THE END IS PRETTY COOL, BUT THE WHOLE SONG IS THE SAME THING. I GUESS IT IS A LITTLE THRASH METAL....... OH WELL. I WOULDN'T BUY THE CD THOUGH. NATHAN, YOUR FREAKIN' WEIRD. ?THINKING MAN'S METAL? OK........IT'S MORE LIKE THINKING 5-YEAR OLD'S METAL. FUGAZI RULES!!!

I wouldn't consider this metal. Actually I'm not going to consider this anything at all other than noise. Actually if you want to call this genre something- I'd go for Hardcore straightedge- not metal. Just for calling it metal is making this track misleading and in that case wont even give it 4 stars.
