Corey Glover’s latest material is more soul- and pop-oriented than the bracing, funky rock of his old band Living Colour. Imagine a sort of male counterpoint to Tracy Chapman, and you’re on the right track. On this live recording, he gives an over-the-top, emotive performance, though the music is pretty standard bar band stuff and the lyrics could use some work (the last temptation of the title turns out to be love -- whatever that means). But this is pop music, not a psychology textbook, so Glover doesn’t have to worry much about the verses’ meaning, he just puts them across with a bravura that would make Ethel Merman proud. The worst thing about this song, which begins with a single guitar and builds to a full band, is the amateur editing of the download. Certainly Glover and his band deserve better than to be cut off in the middle of the final note.

A far cry from his Living Colour days, former frontman Corey Glover has gone soul-searching,( let's forget his VH1 VJ stint though)and his outstanding vocal range proves this boy can do more than wax metal. Although the live audience hampers the vibe of the continuous cock-rock solos, there is some talent to be found after the ashes of his musical past. But he needs to update the sound of the music, so it can catch up with his voice.
