Right now, Robert Schneider is the next Brian Wilson…how long before we look for the next Robert Schneider? |

As much as the media and fans draw the line between Robert Schneider and Brian Wilson, that really is only a small part of Schneider’s massive ‘60s influence. His roots and his loves run from the pure sugar pop of the Zombies, to the progressive fuzz skronk of early Pink Floyd, to the simple constructions of the Beatles, to the more complex and abstract forms of the Left Banke. A prime example of Schneider’s ‘60s fixations is “Look Away” (found on 2000’s Discovery of the World Inside the Moone), which offers an amalgam of early Hollies, Beatles, and maybe a dash of the Association, and could just as easily be mistaken for Mitch Easter’s observations on the same period and bands and arrangements. Schneider isn’t afraid to present his art in a retroactive light, because he chooses his influences well and crafts his music accordingly, making the Apples In Stereo perhaps the greatest baroque pop band -- 35 years after the fact.

Not as Beatles-esque as the other track for DL here ("Strawberryfine") but still cool.

This song takes you back to a time when pop music wasn't about boy and girl bands and when it was actually great music made by talented people...not that I'm bitter toward BSB or anything...
