It's Hank Williams -- what else do you need to know? Masterful honkytonk from the hillbilly Shakespeare.

Odd as it may sound, the jaunty, tongue-in-cheek "Why Don't You Love Me" may be the perfect introduction to the music of Hank Williams. Though it lacks the obvious pathos of classics like "Cold, Cold Heart" or "Your Cheatin' Heart," the underlying hint of heartbreak and loss that permeates this track sets it apart from joyous ditties like "Honky Tonkin'" or "Sittin' the Woods on Fire." With tongue planted firmly in cheek, ol' Hank asks the erstwhile object of his love just why she's no longer infatuated with him; after all, he sings, "My hair's still curly and my eyes are still blue.” Part of the song's charm is Hank's raw, twangy vocals and hillbilly patois; his casual delivery and roughhewn grammar forge an immediate bond with the listener. Undoubtedly one of his finest tunes, "Why Don't You Love Me" showcases Hank Williams’ playful side -- while hinting at the hellhounds that forever dogged his trail.
