  The Crown
Deathexplosion
Album: Deathrace King
Genres: Metal
Soul-searing and lightning-quick, “Deathexplosion” more than lives up to its title -- an explosive example of the Crown’s ripping death-thrash.

Few bands today meld modern death metal with retro-trash as adeptly as the Crown, and “Deathexplosion” is an explosive example. Living up to the song’s title, guitarists Marko Tervonen and Marcus Sunesson propel the verses with lightning-quick riffs that are as brutal as they are catchy, while drummer Janne Saarenpaa lays down rumbling double-bass work and frenetic 4/4s during the soul-searing chorus. And speaking of soul-searing -- frontman Johan Lindstrom lets us know in no uncertain terms (in a raspy-growl akin to Sodom’s Tom Angelripper) that his soul is blacker than the horse he’s riding -- you don’t doubt him for a second. After a few minutes of total aural abuse, the track downshifts into a haunting march: the waste has been laid -- now it’s time to survey the aftermath. “Deathexplosion” indeed!

This is tight. It has the best parts of old-school thrash and the vocals are well-done. It's a Hit!
