Wow! Elastica’s brand-new MUSICBLITZ Exclusive, “Suicide,” is a funky change of pace, indeed! The band has always evinced a Blondie influence, but it’s never been more obvious than here. “Suicide” finds Elastica moving away from the punky, Wire-inspired edge of hits like “Connection” and moving into Luscious Jackson territory -- all heavy bass, scratching, and cool, distorted vocals. Annie Holland’s extremely new wave bass line is the heart of the song, while guitar, keys, and turntables provide perfect accents. But it’s Justine Frischmann’s inimitably coy vocal delivery that attracts the most attention. Listening to her here, it’s easy to imagine Frischmann languidly strutting down the road, cooly brushing aside legions of would-be suitors, as though she knows what she wants, and won’t settle for less! While the lyrics are distinctly dark (“I know there’s something out there / Feels like suicide / Always something turning / Going through my mind”), the groove and attitude here is sexy and danceable, making for an intriguing contradiction that’s more addictive than heroin. “Suicide” is a track you won’t want to live without!

on the contrary.. i feel elastica have outdone even their standards with this track, and the album. its a lot more 'engineered' than the previous one.. its maybe not so easy to listen to though, from the point that its a bit more complicated!! superb. recommend it to anyone with a love for the fantabulous..
little queenie
neat

While it took a while for Elastica to come out with a new album, fans will be a little suprized at this song. while the trademark sound is there.... The soungwriting isn't as good as the last one and there really were no catchy hooks in this one.
