Enjoyable if predictable rap-rock, Taproot hits a groove we've heard "Again & Again"…and again and again and again ...

If taken alone, "Again & Again" is a pretty solid example the rap/metal hybrid that defines the hard rock scene in 2000. Taproot's stuttering, guitar-heavy sonic punch is equal parts groove and metal, and vocalist Stephen Richard's ability to switch between a nasally whine and a growling yelp has a certain charm. Unfortunately, well … we've heard it all before. The rap-screaming vocals, the "life sucks" lyrical theme -- the whole nine yards -- has been done to death by bands like Korn or Limp Bizkit. It's not that "Again & Again" is any worse than the work of heavyweights -- in fact, the complete lack bad-boy posturing on "Again & Again" is refreshing. But competent as they are, there’s just nothing distinct enough about Taproot to separate them from the herd. A few years ago, a song as solid as this might've sparked a musical revolution; today, it's just another blip on the radar.
