Morcheeba’s entrancing siren Skye Edwards takes a breather on this old-skool tribute, turning the mic over to legendary rapper/beatboxer/hip hop jester Biz Markie. Cheeky sibs Paul and Ross Godfrey -- “The Gods” referenced in the track title -- provide The Biz with a loopy, loping track, accented with Gaelic flourishes, odd moans, and Biz’s own human percussion. While the 90-second album version of the cut is more of an interlude than a song, this extended mix gives The Biz plenty of time and space to flex his smile-inducing, crowd-rousing freestyle skills. He’s the real god here. When he raps off the top of his head, “I’m guaranteed to rock and make your hands stay clapped,” it’s no idle boast.
