Genres: Rock
Steamin' hot jams kick-outage from Atlanta's favorite sons. How come these guys never became really huge? |

The bone-crunching title track of Drivin' N Cryin's third Island release, "Fly Me Courageous" supposedly served as a popular battle anthem for Desert Storm pilots in the Gulf War, and this new live version helps you understand why: It's impossible to not get revved up by DNC's swaggering riffs and fist-fightin' performance. Kevin Kinney's quasi-patriotic lyrics sound even more convoluted amid the amps-on-ten racket, but he sings them with a passion that's thoroughly convincing. Unlike with most live band recordings, you can really hear the way that the crowd energizes the band, and vice versa; if this is what a DNC live show is really like, I'll be in the front row the next time they come to town.

Being from Atlanta, I grew UP on Drivin' N' Cryin'. From days at the Roxy to the Hard Rock Cafe to Midtown Music, Drivin' N' Cryin' have remained true to their sound and true to their fans. Definitely suggested!
