Disturbed Stupify Album: Sickness
Genres: Metal
Chicago's Disturbed lays down some competent yet "stupifyingly" dull hip-hop/metal that brings absolutely nothing new to the mosh pit. |

If a less-than-mature stance and a lackluster performance wasn't bad enough, Disturbed's "Stupify" suffers greatly from the complete lack of differentiation from just about every other band in the whole alternative/rap-metal scene. Beyond the briefest flashes of melodicism and admitted technical musical ability, "Stupify" is weighed down by a cookie-cutter resemblance to bands like Limp Bizkit’s, generic power riffing and juvenile lyrics. In other words, except for all but the staunchest fans of the genre, this song is just boring. With his nasally vocals, lead singer David Draimen yowls out a lecherous challenge to some unnamed object of his desire, "All I needed was just one fuck / One tiny, little innocent fuck." What's worse, there's simply no fire behind the music, none of the balls-out passion that drives peers like Korn or the Deftones. This is just strictly by the numbers -- and half-heartedly so.
