Slam Eterna Album: Eterna / Rejuvination 12
Genres: Electronic
A high-caliber mix of house and techno sounds, “Eterna” has an almost pop-like structure that will grab even the most jaded listener. |

Lush keyboards and thumping beats get Slam’s “Eterna” started on an extremely danceable groove. But before long, the dense, disco-like house sound is contrasted with sparse, rhythmical passages and a hard, mechanistic vibe -- tribal drums meet minimalist electronica. While it’s definitely not a pop song, the contrast gives “Eterna” a more “pop” feel -- the disco sections act as choruses against the verses, especially as the soaring, diva-like vocals infiltrate the disco/house parts. It’s an intriguing mix that sets its hooks into you and doesn’t let go. But make no mistake -- this is not brainless pop-tronica. On the contrary, “Eterna” is high-grade dance music that will move even the most leaden of feet.

I like the beats -- I can definitely envision dancing to this at the clubs.
