Ahhhh, memories. Back in the day, the Stray Cats were the coolest cats on the radio and "Rock This Town" was the swingingest number on that new thing called MTV (this author was eight when he first heard the tune). Now, nearly two decades later, "Rock This Town" still holds up surprisingly well and it's still better than half these rockabilly goofballs that've come along in the past five years or so. Brian Setzer plays some badass dirty guitar licks while Slim Jim Phantom and Lee Rocker keep it rockin' from the rhythm side with a nasty walking bass and high-octane drumming. "Rock This Town" is the definition of “infectious”; it's one of those songs that causes hip movements in even the most terminally unfunky. As for the lyrics, well, it's all about having fun -- chasing girls, running cars, getting into fights, raising hell, drinking, that kind of fun -- and the poor ol' town's just gonna have to grin and bear it. It's just some old wild boys having fun, and that's exactly what "Rock This Town" is: fun.
