Eminem Anyman Album: Soundbombing II
Genres: Rap/Hip Hop
F**k political correctness! Once again, Mr. Shady delivers an hysterical punchline to offend any man, woman or child. |

Don’t let the hype dissuade you. Before the gazillions of SoundScans, Slim Shady-saturated airwaves, the covers of Rolling Stone and Entertainment Weekly, a Britney Spears response record, lawsuits with mom, the uproar in the gay and feminist communities -- before all that -- Marshall Mathers was just a bad-ass rhymesmith on the Detroit underground. This contribution to Rawkus Records’ Soundbombing II compilation proves that his street cred was -- and still is -- well-deserved. Over a simple bassline, the high-pitched MC drops a series of boasts and barbs that showcase his hysterically stinging verse, boundless gall, and a knack for complex rhyme schemes. Here’s a jewel: “I slit [my mom’s] stomach open with a scalpel when she was six months / And said I’m ready now bitch / Can’t you feel these kicks, c**t.” We also laughed out loud when Mr. Shady calls a rival “a fag in a women’s gym.” Irreverent to say the least. No, Slim won’t be winning any new friends in NOW or the PMRC, but there’s no denying that his words of wit fit the beat like a well-worn pair of sneaks.
