Before the multi-platinum albums, before the Lollapaloozas and Warpeds and Woodstocks, and before the adulation of millions around the world, Green Day were a little pop-punk trio on Lookout! Records that were just starting to find a following. They earned their audience on the back of irresistibly catchy tracks like this one. A simple melody, perfect pop hooks, tasty harmonies, and buzzsaw guitars -- is there a better recipe for a good time? Yeah, you can complain that it's derivative of the Buzzcocks, or the Descendents, or a million other bands, but in the end, that's not really important. What's important is that after hearing this song, you'll spend the rest of the day singing to yourself, "I hold my breath and close my eyes and / Dream about her / 'Cause she's 2000 light years away…". A solid pop-punk classic, easily as worthy as anything else to come out of the genre.

Very Good
tamara

I heard a studio(?) version on the radio in '94 that was better than the album version and have never found it since. It's a definitive version without doubt. Just about song perfection. Knowledge of it should be disseminated, if anyone knows of it I would like to know.
