Moby First Cool Hive Album: Scream Soundtrack
Genres: Electronic
Lush and cinematic, this moody 1995 soundscape is far from the "First Cool" thing from Moby, but it's one of the best! |

Lush, ambient, and tinged with melancholy, "First Cool Hive" is a haunting and moody soundscape that new fans will immediately associate with such latter-day hits as "Porcelain," though the track dates back to 1995's Everything Is Wrong. Contrasted with a danceable yet mellow beat, it's a beautiful mix of sounds, with the haunting female vocals providing the perfect finishing touch. The track has a very cinematic feel, and one could easily see it used as background music in a film (as it was, in Scream), but that's not to imply that it's nothing but background noise. To the contrary, "First Cool Hive" is absolutely captivating, and highly recommended to both Moby's legion of new fans and any serious aficionado of electronic music.
