Alice Cooper Gimme Album: Brutal Planet
Genres: Metal
The man responsible for KISS, Johnny Rotten, Marilyn Manson, and Rob Zombie returns with the perfect anthem for these acquisitive times, and proves that he's still the master! |

Okay, I know we'd all love it if Alice went back to making stripped-down hard rock anthems like "I'm Eighteen" and "No More Mr. Nice Guy," but you can't blame the man for wanting to slug it out with today's pretenders on their own terms. "Gimme," the perfect anthem for these aquisitive times, wouldn't sound out of place on the radio next to Manson, Zombie, etc., but his distinctive delivery elevates it head and top hat above the current competition. Once again, he plays his role to the hilt -- this time he's the devil perched on your shoulder, short-circuiting your conscience with silver-tongued entreaties like, "Who's more important than you?" It's hard to imagine Marilyn pulling off a performance this subtle, or coming up with a chorus as tuneful as this one. A class act, no question.
