A curious mix of indie-like lo-fi vocals and old fashioned hi-fi rock n' roll, Bluebird's MUSICBLITZ Exclusive, "Beautiful Believer," is an attention-getting combination of sounds and ideas. A hushed intro slowly opens the song, as bass and guitar rumble quietly, building toward a climactic thrash to kick the tune into gear. As things get moving, the band adds elements as diverse as Black Crowes-style hip-shaking rock breaks, Foo Fighters-inspired alt-rock power harmonies, and post-punk basswork to the mix. Singer Samuel Velde's voice has a very distinctive and interesting quality -- it sounds like he gave his all at a show the night before recording, and as a result, his voice is just a bit distressed, making it more personable and earnest. This vocal quality makes inspirational lyrics like "To learn from the past/Of a shining path so bright / Beautiful believers dream / To do what's right" hit that much closer to the listener's heart. Of course, the presence of legendary MC5 guitarist Wayne Kramer adds credibility to the track, but it also adds his searing guitar shredding, giving the tune just enough extra kick to put it over the top. An intriguing rocker with more than enough twists and turns to hold any listener's interest, you can believe that this one is worth the download time!

I find the melody of the song itself lacks variation (although it's on par with anything else you'll hear these days), but the arrangement sure makes up for it! They're havinging a lot of fun with this song. It definitely holds your interest.
