These Texas-based terrorists have been talking trash about taking the metal world by storm. Fields of Disbelief, their third Noise Records release, backs up the talk with a serious attack of brass-knuckled riffing and thunderous machine-like drumming that instantly turns your head with the command of new noise. This track, “Fields of Disbelief,” is unfortunately one of the more homogenous sounding concoctions on an otherwise relentless release. Point being, check this one out but don’t judge them on this track alone. Like the obligatory arena ballad that every late-‘80s band with 2 guitarists coughed up featuring keyboards and no guitars, this is the 2000 version of the metal single -- a song with downtuned dissonant riffs, but no tempo changes and little personality. Hey, when was the last time personality got you on radio faster than conformity? Rants aside, Pissing Razors take the formula laid down by their repetitious rock neighbors Pantera, and re-engineer it for the future. But you’ll only see glimpses of that genius on the “Fields of Disbelief.” Try “Between Heaven and Hell,” “Ruin” or “Three” for starters -- seriously, get a hold of the full album as soon as you can -- it’s that important!
