Spineshank Asthmatic Album: The Height of Callousness
Genres: Metal
Spineshank cranks up the electro-metal oxygen tank on “Asthmatic.” Heavy breathers unite! |

Blasting open with a riot inciting “C’mon,” courtesy of venomous vocalist Johnny Santos, Spineshank reveals similarities to new metal leaders like System Of A Down and Fear Factory on “Asthmatic.” Sure it’s a derivative dirge, but with a scream-therapy tact in the verses that gets augmented by an echo-ey goth chorus, the tune is hard to resist. Powerful throat work aside, the ‘shank’s a musical wrecking ball steered by Mike Sarkysian’s unrelenting six-string assault and supported by a crack, bottom-heavy rhythm section. Equal parts melodic and pummeling, “Asthmatic” is exemplary new metal.

Even though I have listened to Metal Blitz a couple times, I think that it's one of the downest shows on Saturday nights. There should be more than one night a week for Metal Blitz. I give the radio show five skulls.

This is the best Spineshank song I've ever heard. If the rest of their new record is like this it fucking blows away the last one.
