The Misfits Scream! Album: Famous Monsters
Genres: Punk
Watered-down horror rock from a band who really should know better. With all of the old Misfits stuff available on CD, who needs this crap? |

This track from the re-animated Misfits tries to replicate the sound and fury of older classics like "Die Die My Darling" and "20 Eyes," but only succeeds ona superficial level. The guitars roar nicely, but their attack seems too measured; ditto for vocalist Michale Graves, who apes Glenn Danzig's vocal tone but seems totally incapable of duplicating his passionate delivery. The song's verse has a good melody, one which seems ready to explode into a killer chorus at any moment; unfortunately, endless droning repetitions of "Until you scree-ee-eam" do not a killer chorus make. As with almost everything in the Misfits canon, it all comes down to horror films; and if "Last Caress" was the band's Dawn Of The Dead, this song must be their I Still Know What You Did Last Summer.
