Phish
Phish are to the Nineties what the Grateful Dead were to the Sixties and Seventies. This sometimes sextet, which originally formed at the University of Vermont in 1983, concentrates on a loose style of throwback jamming. Their music is as colorful and comfortable as a tie-dye t-shirt with the elastic worn out. Since 1988, the group has recorded nine albums and built a fanatic live following, organically growing from their hippie roots into the more mature world of free form jazz. |

Hey, Mountain Girl! Put down that bong and listen up as the ultimate jam band plies its trade in this mostly instrumental recording from the '80s.

Phish explores a world beyond improvisation, or at least introduces a new thought into this realm - Latin jazz. "The Landlady" is an instrumental track which shows some of Phish's musical influences beyond the Grateful Dead.
