Hailing from Ohio, the Players first banded together under the name Greg Webster and the Ohio Untouchables. They did a stint backing up Wilson Pickett and the Falcons before changing their moniker and dropping their first album, Observations In Time, in 1967. In the early ‘70s, they scored with hits like “Funky Worm,” “Jive Turkey” and “Skin Tight.” 1974’s “Fire” (from the album of the same) was their biggest hit to date, followed by the classic “Love Rollercoaster” -- probably their two most recognizable songs.
