The quintet’s origins trace back to a Los Angeles-area high school in 1996, when founding members Mike Shinoda (MC/vocalist), Brad Delson (guitarist/bassist) and Rob Bourdon (drums) first came together. The following year, while studying painting at Pasadena’s Art Center, Shinoda linked up with DJ Joseph Hahn and not long after, Arizona-bred singer Chester Bennington rounded out the group. Following one performance at L.A.’s infamous Whisky, the group secured a publishing deal. Linkin Park’s integrated sound earned the group a deal with a Warner Bros.
