Dust For Life
The brainchild of guitarist/songwriter Jason Hughes, Dust For Life was formed in Memphis, Tennessee in 1998. After the band's early demos received airplay on local radio, Hughes decided that his other three bandmates lacked the qualities necessary to make it in the music business, and replaced them with vocalist/guitarist Chris Gavin, bassist Dave Rhea, and drummer Rick Shelton. The newly-remodeled band went into Memphis' famed Ardent Studios, with the intention of recording a self-distributed album; but when the tracks turned out even better than Hughes & Co. had hoped, they sent tapes off to various record companies, and soon inked a deal with Wind-Up Records. "Step Into the Light," the album's first single, began receiving extensive national airplay in late 2000, and the band capped the year by performing with Hootie & The Blowfish at the Fiesta Bowl Block Party on New Year's Eve in Tempe, Arizona. |

Rock |
Dust For Fingerprints would be more to the point -- this dull slab of modern hard rock is so generic, it's hard to know where to even begin placing the blame.
