Welcome !
    Dave Matthews Band
Singer/guitarist Dave Matthews was born in South Africa, but would find his greatest fame after emigrating to the US. Settling in Virginia, he joined bassist Stefan Lessard, multi-instrumentalist Leroi Moor, violinist Boyd Tinsley, and drummer Carter Beauford to form the Dave Matthews Band in the early '90s. They found success as a touring unit first, concentrating on college campuses, where their jammy, Grateful Dead-inspired pop earned them strong word of mouth. This early following made their debut indie release, 1993's Remember Two Things, a success, and brought the band to the attention of the majors. Eventually signing with RCA, their major label debut, Under the Table and Dreaming was released late in 1994. With the success of its first single, "What Would You Say," the album skyrocketed, selling over four million copies in the US. Quickly following up, Crash debuted at number two on the charts in the spring of 1996, its gorgeous title track eventually spurring it to sales of more than two million copies. Around this time, the band became one of the most popular acts on the live bootleg circuit, with quasi-legal discs from foreign companies popping up all over the world. Fighting back, the DMB worked with the federal government to target stores that sold these discs, resulting in nearly all the major bootleggers being arrested in early 1997. DMB also fought the bootleggers in a more fan-friendly way by releasing an official live album, the two-disc Live at Red Rocks 8-15-95, late in 1997. Another studio album, Before These Crowded Streets, appeared in spring of 1998, and the prolific band released another live album, Listener Supported, in 1999. Surprisingly, the band offered no release in 2000; the longest gap since the release of Crash followed their major label debut. Fans will be thankful to know, though, that DMB's latest studio effort, Everyday, is set for release in 2001.

Dave Matthews Band I Did It MP3 Jambands, Pop
"What Would You Say" to a preview of the new Dave Matthews Band album? "I Did It" is more of the band's trademark jammy (yet radio-friendly) sound.
