Goodie Mob
Following in the philosophical --and occasionally musical -- steps of Arrested Development, this Georgia hip hop quartet stands out from the new crop of "Dirty South" groups by virtue of its thoughtful rhymes and consciousness-raising content. Comprised by Khujo, T-Mo, Big Gipp and youngest member Cee-lo, the group made an immediate impact with its 1995 debut Soul Food on Babyface's LaFace label. The group, whose name stands for "The Good Die Mostly Over Bull," enjoyed a hit with "Cell Therapy," then toured with a live band before releasing Still Standing in 1998. |

Perhaps clubs should consider hiring good sound engineers. That way pretty good tunes such as Goodie Mob's "Cee-lo" will not be held back by poor live mixes that drown out much of the instrumentation that drives the tune.
