Many musicologists consider Boozoo to be the last living link between modern zydeco and the Creole sounds of a long-vanished era. While his predecessor, the late Clifton Chenier, favored the piano accordion, Boozoo uses the more traditional diatonic accordion to produce energetic flurries of smile-inducing notes. Boozoo made several recordings for the Goldband label during the late 1950s and early 1960s, then split from the Louisiana zydeco scene for the better part of two decades.
