Foo Fighters
Formed by ex-Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl after Kurt Cobain's death in 1994, the FOO FIGHTERS roster has also included bassist Nate Mendel and drummer William Goldsmith, two former members of Sunny Day Real Estate, and Germs guitarist Pat Smear. The first, self-titled effort, which was almost completely recorded by Grohl, became a hit behind the single "This Is A Call"; Goldsmith left during the making of the second album, 1996's The Colour and the Shape, and was replaced by Taylor Hawkins, who'd played with Alanis Morissette. Trimmed down to a trio, Grohl, Mendel and Hawkins switched labels (from Capitol to BMG) for their third album, 1999's There Is Nothing Left To Lose. |
