Like Brownstein's later and more famous band, EXCUSE 17 was powered by dual guitars and vocals (from Brownstein and Becca Albee, also of Motel No Tell). After one record each on the indie labels Chainsaw and Kill Rock Stars, the band members went their separate ways, and Sleater-Kinney became Brownstein's musical focus.     Excuse Seventeen Watchmaker MP3 Alternative Carrie Brownstein's pre-Sleater-Kinney project offers a melodic but intense song in the riot grrrl tradition.
