Ween
In 1984, in the bucolic suburb of New Hope, Pennsylvania, 14-year-olds Mickey Melchiondo and Aaron Freeman adopted alter-egos Gene and Dean Ween, then set out to turn pop on its ass. Subsequent years of drug-fueled experiments with four-tracks and other home recording equipment yielded thousands of hours of material, from which Ween cut their first studio release, 1990's God Ween Satan (The Oneness). Ten years and six albums later, Ween has established themselves as an unabashedly creative force, leaving no satirical stone unturned and provoking responses from awe to disgust. Though their live backup roster is ever-changing, Gene and Dean remain front and center, sharing guitar and vocal duties as they steer the outfit through extended, spacey jams. Love them or hate them, Ween makes no apologies. |

Rock |
Okay, you know what? Ween should just leave Wings well enough alone and go find some other sacred rock ‘n’ roll ground to desecrate. This thoroughly misguided attempt to remain true to the original goes sadly awry in light of Ween’s unfathomably infinite inferiority to McCartney & Co. Bleeeeeech.
