Their unique brand of white trash roots-punk has resulted in critical raves from around the country (including a righteous write-up in the New York Times) and landed them on touring bills with Dick Dale and Southern Culture On The Skids. Singer Patterson Hood (son of Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section bassist David Hood) and guitarist Mike Cooley have been playing together for over fifteen years, but only formed the Drive By Truckers a few years back, after relocating to Athens from Memphis.
