He started his musical career in the late 80s, renaming himself Bookie Ranks and appearing as a guest toaster atop several traveling Jamaican sound systems. Ranks’ stint in Puerto Rico gave him the chance to work with Spanish reggae producer DJ Eric, and he later collaborated on an album with the legendary “Riddim Twins,” Sly and Robbie.
