The Derelict is a talented young musician who is involved in several aspects and genres of music. In addition to his solo techno project, he is the lead singer of Columbus, Ohio-area punk band Captain Caffeine, the singer in acoustic duo Monkey and the Butt Puppet, and a producer for local rappers Ray Bonez and Babila Lima. He is influenced greatly by Aphex Twin, or anything by Richard James, as well as Paul Van Dyk, Plug, Tricky, Portishead and East Coast hip hop.

The Derelict’s music is a different story altogether. You can definitely hear the influences, but the sound and style is all his own. He also hosts a weekly radio show at his college station, and occasionally spins an hour-plus ambient/noise mix using the station's two turntables, three CD players, two tape decks, call-in listeners and the station's sampler. The Derelict now records under the name Child.
