Jimmy Buffett
The patron saint of all that is mellow, sun-bleached and Hawaiian-shirted, Jimmy Buffett has parlayed his laid-back humor and a flair for nautical imagery into a phenomenally successful career. A cult hero in the mid-'70s, Buffett went "big time" in 1977 with the Changes in Latitudes, Changes in Attitudes LP, which included such deathless favorites as "Margaritaville" and the title track. Though most of his albums have fallen shy of the Top 30, Buffett's rabid "Parrothead" fanbase continues to make him one of the country's biggest live draws. In his spare time, Buffett also writes books, designs sport shirts, and oversees his tourist-friendly chain of Margaritaville restaurants and nightclubs. |
