Todd Tijerina
Born in Chicago, Todd Tijerina’s love for the guitar helped him overcome a childhood of poverty and frequent relocation. He bought his first axe from a neighbor at age nine, although Tijerina didn’t discover the blues that made his hometown famous until his family moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico. There, a friend turned the teenaged Tijerina on to Stevie Ray Vaughn – soon he was investigating other blues artists in earnest. He also began getting serious about his playing, forming a band and touring the Southwest from 1994 to 1997. After establishing his reputation as a first-rate guitarist, Tijerina moved back to Chicago in January 1998, where he worked with blues veterans like Jumpin’ Willie Cobb and Charlie Love and played regularly with his own trio in some of the city’s most prestigious blues clubs. His debut album, The Lowdown, features 11 tracks that show off his jazz and funk-influenced blues style. |

Blues |
Funky southwestern blues, served Stevie Ray-style with plenty of tasty licks. With a side of strong vocals, it could have been a four-star treat.
