Joe Ely
A true Texas legend, Joe Ely fits in somewhere between Buddy Holly, Doug Sahm and Jimmie Dale Gilmore. Since the early 1970s, when he formed the now-fabled Flatlanders with Gilmore and Butch Hancock, this Lubbock native has been one of the leading proponents of Lone Star twang. Albums like Honky Tonk Masquerade, Musta Notta Gotta Lotta and his self-titled 1977 solo debut were "alt. country" before there was such a classification, and his hard-rocking live performances even won him an opening slot on the Clash's 1979 tour. Though he's never gone platinum, he continues to make new fans among aficionados of both rock and country music. |

The rootin'-tootin' Texan works up a good sweat on this new live track, but he's also packin' more cliches than a George W. Bush campaign speech!
