Welcome !
    Deep Banana Blackout
Leading a populace of sweaty, overwhelmed and uplifted funk junkies to the promised land of late-night, non-stop groove, Deep Banana Blackout's crusade to exhaust each and every audience continues as an indisputable success. Having secured the loyalty of a grassroots circle of devotees known as "The Funk Mob," the eight member collective has stepped into the national spotlight ready to dish out their healthy serving of dance oriented funk. Formed in 1995, the band bridges a unique blend of musical ingredients when concocting their highly combustible sound. Soaring from the foundation poured by Benj LeFevre (bass), Johnny Durkin (percussion) and Eric Kalb (drums), Deep Banana excels in commingling the band's array of interests and influences into a musically articulate sound. Rob Somerville (saxophone) and Rob Volo (trombone) provide boisterous gusts of frenzied horns to compliment the involved guitar work Fuzzy and Cyrus Madan's efforts on the organ. Finally, Jennifer Durkin's blistering and passionate vocals thrust the music towards mind bending moments of soaring euphoria. With two albums to their credit, (studio effort Live in the Thousand Islands and a live double album entitled Rowdy Duty, this funky outfit seems poised to achieve continued success. Although the extremely talented Jen Durkin is leaving the band to pursue other interests, Deep Banana possesses the depth, skill, and musical dexterity to persevere as one of America's choice funk bands. Still very much an undiscovered band, this hungry group will inevitably reach the ears of a very large audience.
