Bikini Kill
Kathleen Hanna, Tobi Vail and Kathi Wilcox first teamed up in the late '80s at Evergreen College in Olympia, Wash., to produce a feminist fanzine, which they dubbed "Bikini Kill." Aiming to bring the publication's agenda to life, the trio recruited guitarist Billy Boredom and formed a band. Bikini Kill's visceral power and impassioned ideals helped to educate and empower a new generation of women in rock, making them the premier band of the riot grrrl movement.
