Forming in Berlin during the mid '80s, the quartet (later a trio) made their recorded debut in 1986 with What Do You Know Deutschland?, released on the legendary Wax Trax! label. Up through 1995, KMFDM recorded six more albums for the label, with each successive record attracting more fans and critical plaudits. In 1996, the group signed with a major label, TVT, and released their big-league debut, Xtort. Two more albums followed before the band's swan song, the appropriately titled Adios, in 1999. In the aftermath, a couple members formed MDFKM (get it?).
